Photo Essay: How to Secure the Basses

Before you remove the plate, examine it to be sure it is not warped, bent, or cracked, especially at the screwholes. Replacement plates are not easy to come by in the right size and shape, so you may have to repair it before reassembly. As long as you have it off, if it is looking really yucky, or if the grillecloth covering the holes in the plate is torn and dirty, you can take care of those things easily by cleaning it and replacing the grillecloth.
