May 2000 debut CD from this talented young DC area artist.

"This is a good first CD for singer Sarah Denning. At her best she reminds me somewhat of other better known sopranos such as Charlotte Church. This is a very good voice, which should grow more and more skilled in a very short time. The opening cut of this album "Lassie Wi the Yellow Coatie" was sung superbly here. I liked Sarah's rendition of the"Skye Boat Song", but even more so her rendition of "Mairi's Wedding" and "Ca' The Ewes". Instrumentation here is of the top quality, with Highland Pipes, tinwhistle, and accordion. I particularly like the songs and tunes with accordion. Like "All Hands Around" reviewed in the last issue, this is the good, acoustic, locally produced Scots album in this area. The sound is clean, as is Sarah's clean clear voice. I expect great things of this young singer."

"When I made this recording, I was 15 years old. Now, after lessons learned, and a lot more experience later ... here it is.

I'm Sarah Denning; I was born in Provo, Utah. I was raised in the world as a whole. I'm of Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and dare I say it...English heritage. I began Scottish Highland dancing at age 6. I was an open Class dancer by age 8. I started playing Bagpipes when I was 9 years old, and by age 16 I was a grade I piper,, which is the top amateur level. In the last 3 years, I added singing to my bill of fare, and now I'm thrilled to have produced my own CD. I'm 17 years old (soon to be 18) and I look forward to the future, where my dream is to perform, and see smiling faces in my audience. I hope you enjoy listening to this recording, as much as I have enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity of making it."
